Sing Democracy 250
Sing Democracy 250 is intended to make a significant national musical and cultural contribution to the 250th anniversary celebration of the Declaration of Independence in 2026. Through this music-with-a-purpose project, we seek to Engage singers and citizens, to Educate and Equip all with knowledge of what they can do to Empower Americans to participate in renewing our democracy.
The project consists of 3 components: a specially designed music program with 2 new compositions, 4 Signature Concerts beginning in Philadelphia in 2025 (followed by Minneapolis-St. Paul, New York, and Washington, D.C.), and performances of the program across all of America in 2026 by high school, college, and community choirs.
Together In Hope Choir is honored to be the anchor choir for the Signature Concerts. Artistic Director G. Phillip Shoultz, III will conduct these performances.
The next Signature Concert will take place Sunday, April 12, 4:00 PM, at Orchestra Hall in Minneapolis. Together In Hope Choir will be joined by the St. Scholastica Chamber Choir, Minnesota State University Moorhead Dragon Choir, Choral Arts Ensemble (Rochester), Honors Choirs of SE Minnesota, and the Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra.
